please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Popped in mid-week early evening. The pub was moderately well fitted out but appeared to require a little more TLC. Service was slow, only two cask beers were available and after managing to get served, the one ale ran out, only Wychwood Hobgoblin left. No effort was made during our visit to put any more ales on. The pub appeared to be doing a moderately brisk trade. It was noticable however that quite a few strangers called in, had a look round, were unimpressed and left. Visited toilets just before leaving, they stank!
This could be a decent pub in an area of poor to average boozers if they only tried harder. I'm sure that the management could improve their offer and reap the rewards of an improved income.

We visited at about 7pm on a weekday evening. The pub and its staff were welcoming, and there was a reasonable crowd, but seats still available. Most appeared to be (like us) visitors to the area rather than regulars.

Drinks were pretty standard, and food looked uninspired ("in a basket" style). The pub itself was attractive.

Large chainish pub next to West Brompton station owned by Taylor Walker.

5 pumps on the bar offering Pride, Doombar and Seafarers yesterday. 3.40 a pint. The quality was fine. Food menu looked to be pretty standard pub grub but the prices were reasonable.

Large garden out the back and seating at the front.

One of the few proper pubs left within walking distance of Stamford bridge. If anyone knows anymore worth visiting, let me know. 4 hand pumps and 3 beers on when I got to the bar - bombardier, old speckled hen and London pride (pretty uninsipring), only OSH was still on by the time I got served and that ran out by the time I'd drank my pint. Ok it was a football night but I'd expect better

This is a nice pub that was serving up some very nice Doombar on my recent visit. Old Speckled Hen and Pride were also available along with some standard lagers and Staropramen. The barman was very nice and greeted me when I walked in and said goodbye when I left. As mentioned before, there is a very nice beer garden out the back and there is also some covered seating out the front on the main road.

This place is a little to food orientated for my liking, but that is my only gripe and I would gladly return.

Not brilliant, but much better than many of the other pubs nearby. Had a reasonable pint of Bateman's red Scorpions Tale.

Not a bad place at all - the location is horrible though - no man's land between Earls Court and North End road

as others have said quite a large place but will always struggle to overcome where it is.

Doombar, Pride, OSH. Large pub, open plan but vaguely divided into 4 sections of similar style. Carpetted throughout, except wood floor at bar, mixture of sizes & shapes of wood tables & chairs. Downstairs to impressive paved beer garden, picnic sets, umbrellas, nicely surrounded by fencing and shrubbery, trees & some pot plants. There are a couple of tables out front but its a shame that the smoke blows back into the pub from here.

Decent attractive looking (inside and out) pub with good service. Right on a main road but has a few seats outside in a covered area.

handy on chelsea home games as get of train over road, but too many kids running about , beer decent staff friendly but definatly more of summertime boozer as good garde out front and back, food overpriced for what you get!!

The Prince Of Wales in West Brompton has a cosy feel about it. They certainly know how to pour a great pint of Guinness which is a blessing when so many places obviously don't even bother to train their staff in the art of perfect pints! On a sunny day you can sit out back or if you want to watch the day drift by, then sit out the front(lots of activity). A great place to have a couple of cold ones if waiting for the long queues for shows at nearby Earls Court Exhibition Centre, to die down!! Cheers

OKish pub. Well behaved kids are tolerated in the garden and front terrace. Standard pub grub.

Lived in the 3rd story flat above the pub during a semester abroad in Fall-2001. This place really became home to me! I'd come down just about every day to write in my journal and chat, and I became good friends with the staff (esp. the "champion Australian bloke" Baz and his "english missus" Jules!) and the regulars during my stay. I often wonder how everyone in that cast of characters is doing! It was a while ago, but I still have great memories of fun times there!

Full of strange types but it's friendly enough and the front terrace is nice. Can be a bit brutal when it comes to asking you to leave at ten past eleven, but other than that it's passable.

Went here after the bar show at Earls Court and had a blast. This place was jumping but staff were wonderful and quick. The bar manager has a great sense of humour and even though was busy he had time for a joke and chat with many of us,which being in the same trade we appreciated.Great beer garden too!

What a great change for the better!I spend a week every year at the exhibition centre staying at a nearby hotel and have done now for 4 years. The POW is now clean serving great food all day and super ale and wines.Staff are smartly dressed and offer efficient knowledgable and friendly service. The Landlord was fun and hospitable and all contributed to a great atmosphere and week for us.We were not going to use this pub again after the last few years but will be back next November!

I worked in this pub in 2001-2002, it was unreal, run by a champion Aussie bloke and his adorably english missus, and all th estaff rocked, the regulars were lovely, and the food was awesome, prepared by myself!! Lovelyt BBQ's on Sat to keep the aussies happy. The publican was great when it came to football hooligans, they weren't allowed in!!

Not a bad pint of Becks. You do tend to get a load of idiots (Northerners usually) early on in the evening who bore the pants off anyone in ear shot. Always have a pint when I'm working at the Exhibition Centre
Dave - 20 Oct 2003 13:57
Not a bad boozer and a good garden in the Summer. Some loudmouths are regulars though but they are gone by 7.30...One is a skinhead who is very camp...Keep your eye on him. Becks always goes down a treat but I usually stick to SAFETY LAGER...
Larry - 17 Oct 2003 15:39
the food is awful - i mean cardboard warmed-up slightly. Quiet drinks mostly except for exhibition days at Earl's Court. The manager chucks everyone out early, having not given enough time to drink up. I've often had my half full pint glass snatched at a minute past 11 and been forcibly removed while contesting the fact. If you want to take your time in the evening the "Titty Twister" from "Dusk till Dawn" is a friendlier bet!

Last night I spent the evening at the Prince of Wales with a group of friends top help say goodbye to their parents who were heading back to Australia.
The bar staff, were very friendly and helpful and the lager well kept.
However, the entire evening was let down by the food. To say this was the worst pub I have ever had would be an understatement, my steak pie was covered in an anaemic lump of pastry that was flopped over the sides of its pot and looked as if it had only been shown the oven from a distance. It's contents were hot, although tasteless and the pieces of beef I did find were covered in grissle. Its was accompanied not by potatoes and vegetables (which I am sure would be the standard anywhere else) but by a insignificant bread roll and pot of frozen butter. My friends meals were of equally poor standard with the bangers and mash being served with cold gravy, the battered fish looked so battered it was close to being a cinders and contained a unrecognisable fish with several bones and I would like to say that a limp piece of lettuce and a few slices of a tomato swamped in croutons does not a Caesar Salad make.
This food really spoilt the whole evening and we sent our friends parents off knowing that their last meal in the UK was of such low standard and I left some what embarrassed. This was like going back about 20 years and quite frankly if you can not serve food that is palatable and tasty then perhaps you really shouldn't bother or change your chef, if indeed you had one in the first place.
