Called in to the bar while staying at the attached Premier Inn recently. No real ales on offer the first night, second night Hobgoblin and Sharp's Atlantic were available.
Went for the Atlantic, was £3.65 or thereabouts. Pleasant enough.

Paid another visit this week and no real ale on at all. Disappointing. Had a bottle of Brewdog Dead Pony (£3.99) instead.

Stayed at the attached Premier Inn recently so this was naturally my first port of call for a pint having checked in.
Two hand pumps but only one in active service, which offered Hobgoblin Gold, 4.2% at £3.35 a pint. Pleasant enough but if you're a real ale drinker staying in the hotel for a couple of nights, chances are it is going to take a bit more variety to keep you on site.
Had a steak here which was very pleasant, there was a 20 minute wait for a table in the restaurant area but was told I could sit in the bar area and order my own food at the bar instead - which is what I did. Went for a bottled ale with my meal for a change - Brewdog Punk IPA 5.6% costing £4.05 for the 330ml bottle. This was crisp with a floral/citrus scent.
Wouldn't revisit just for the bar offering but equally if I was staying in the hotel again I wouldn't dodge it like the plague. I suspect I will be visiting again and hopefully by then the ale will have rotated.

I went here today solely because of a Christmas meal with work colleagues. The keg bitter was Tetley's Smoothflow, the handpull was the seasonal Wychwood's Bah Humbug which was distinctly average. I shan't be adding this to my list of places to re-visit.......

The old Duck Inn used to be a godsend for those of us visiting Birmingham and being accommodated at the nearby 'temperence' hotels in the Hagley Road which our employers thought would keep us out of temptation. Masses of real ales available!
The rebuilt establishment, attached to a budget hotel, is unrecognisable.
There is plenty of dining space (I've never seen more than about 10% of it occupied during a weekday lunchtime). Menu is standard Beefeater fare - quite good value - and menu changes slightly every few weeks.
There is usually one cask ale available (Wadworth 6X the last couple of times I've visited). The first time, in late 2010, it was fine. The next time, in early 2011, it was not in good condition: when I complained, I was immediately offered a replacement, although the lack of alternative ales meant I had to settle for Staropramen lager.

New build Beefeater with a bar consisting of Krap Keg fonts that look like Iron Bars to keep the punters from the till.... and only 2 real ale hand-pulls... strangely both with Hobgoblin pump clips. Reasonable pint BUT....... where did the old DUCK go? what happened to the back building with all the real ale... the 8 before 8 challenge back in the 80's.... those were the days!!

Now rebuilt as a Beefeater. I went on the opening week (Mothers Day in fact) and must say it was (for a Beefeater) superb. The food was great, the service was incredible, i've never had better service at this kind of establishment. there were two hand pumps but no ale on yet, so i let them off being the first week and all. I was overall very impresses. HOWEVER I went again last weekend and must say it was awful. The food was very low quality and small portions, the service was appaling, we were there for three hours due to the lacklustre efforts of the waiting staff, and there was still on ale in the pumps, they must be for decoration only. After such a great experience on what must be one of the busiest days of the year for it to be so bad on a normal quiet sunday afternoon was just unacceptable. I won't be risking it again.
