Wetherspoons, on the small side. Was quiet when I went Saturday lunchtime, yet still had to wait to be served. Had a pint of Ruddles which was £2.05. Alright, but had better pints of it.
Probably okay if you live in the area, but not the pub to make a specific effort to visit if you live elsewhere in South London.

Roumor has it that the Foxley is up for sale. Bad news if true, it will probably become a laundrette

Best are pub in purley now. Bar staff are great, beer is good, outstanding selections of real ales, what more can I say.

A small weatherspoons of the beaten track. It's got all the usual things you'd expect in a JD such as a good selection of draft bitters. The bar staff are fine as is everything else. The one thing that would prevent me drinking regularly at the Foxley is the substantial risk of dying of boredom.

If you are looking for a small pub with a good selection of GOOD ale and SPIRITS....LOOK NO FURTHER.
the staff are predominately young and cheerful, polite and able to banter if required. The cleanliness is of a good standard and it has a friendly atmosphere. Yes, there are the usual “Wetherspoon style regulars” but they are far fewer than some of the places I have visited. This is a well run and welcoming pub, that is often overlooked.....long may that be the case.....it’s good to keep some good things to yourself!!
Well done Foxley......keep it up.

A small Wetherspoons located on the one way system. This is a sleepy backwater 'spoons without atmosphere or any staff enthusiasm, looking at the customers it has a "gods waiting room" feel.Laughably it somehow got into the G.B.G. but thankfully it is not in the 2014 edition. My wife sometimes says Oh! lets walk to the Foxley.... my answer is I would rather walk off a short pier!

Best pub in Purley by a long way. Notwithstanding bar uniforms and promo material, it is the only one that resembles how pubs were until a few years ago. Range of spirits and beer is very good and prices thrash any nearby licensed premises.

My friends and I descend on this pub once a year every year on Christmas Eve. The beer is good and the lines are clean.

It should be noted that this pub will be getting a new manager very shortly. His name is Michael and he used to be at Raynes Park

I'd make this an above average Wetherspoons. Never known any problems in here, the punters keep themselves to themselves and get on with things. You probably get a better selection of guest beers in somewhere like The George but there's usually something that appeals. Can't knock the food at the prices either.

This wetherspoons is a bit small compare to some of the other i have been to i went in there about 2 weeks ago when i moved to purley. The staff were not in any rush to serve you, i find that in alot of wetherspoons . It seemed a freindley pub more of a local i had a guest ale was alright but i have had better. i will go back but will be trying other pubs around and find out if there is anymore wetherspoons around

Unexceptional 'spoons, but with a calm and relaxed lunchtime atmosphere. Usual good selection of real ales, including a nice pint of Ringwood Fortyniner.

pretty small offering from jdw but friendly quick service and a decent pint to boot, 7/10

Has been my local for years now, although I tend either to go on Friday nights or Monday nights (for the Monday Club!) and have found it to be a great pub. Food served quickly and bar staff friendly. Also, the crowd in there is generally friendly (especially compared to the other pubs in Purley!). Would definitely recommend. As for crticisms about lacking atmosphere, I find that being able to talk to my friends in a pub gives the place more atmosphere than which brand of music is blasting.

What looks like a bit of a dingy old man's pub from the outside is actually rather nice for a few cheap drinks and a bit of banter with the delightful staff. Beats the other local pubs anyway - brass monkeys = full of druggies, rectory and jolly farmers are both ridiculously overpriced for what you get. Can you honestly complain at 1.69 for a pint of best?

As Wetherspoons go...not bad eh. Maybe having Ryans across the road helps!

This has been a local of mine for a couple of years, and I've spent many a night putting the world to rights on 1.69 pints of Carling! The pub and toilets are generally clean, food is standard Spoons fare, and the staff are friendly enough. If you want music, sports and a party atmosphere then this isn't the place for you, but if you want a few cheap pints and a chat with your mates in a friendly pub, then I'd definitely recommend it.

If you're looking for something a bit more buzzing, then you've got Ryan's Bar across the street (awful furniture, awful layout, fully of pissed mean-looking 20-somethings looking for a fight, redeemed only by great bar staff), the Jolly Farmers (don't even think of looking any other patron in the eye if you value your testicles), or the Rectory (generic monolithic pub with the usual bouncers, ridiculously large tables requiring you to shout to be heard by those sat opposite, and scattered groups of outrageously drunk females trying to get a shag off the local pensionable gangland boss).

Just came back from travelling and was disapointed to see a Weatherspoon in Purley. These plastic , same as same as Pubs are useless.

Its an OK pint. Nice and cheap - yadda yadda yadda - typical spoons yadda yadda yadda - no atmosphere!

Nice friendly pub & bar staff . Gets a bit rowdy on a wednesday for no apparent reason (ahem...) Good beers from time to time.
Anthony - 26 Aug 2004 11:50
Usual Wetherspoon, usual Wetherspoon clientele sadly.
