Goose In The City, Wolverhamptonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Now back to being called The Goose. Another Wetherclone type of place in the city centre. Of the three local outlets run by this company, this one is perhaps the medium. For instance, it has 6 handpumps, less than the Hogshead (10) but more than the George Wallis (5). Similarly the number of bigscreen TVs is midway between the other two. Unfortunately, I don’t think Goldilocks would think this place “just right” though !
The place is enormous, and it seems the further you get from the bar (on the left as you enter), the grottier it becomes, with tables very much the worse for wear.
As previously stated, there are 6 cask beers available, but they are all national brands, that are very much of a muchness. I tried the Robinsons Dizzy Blonde, which was reasonable.
I ahve eaten here in the past, but it was a long time ago, and I can’t remember anything about it. The menu is in the typical Stonegate house style – and may even be the same as the George Wallis.

This pub now appears to be called the Lady Wulfrun. Late yesterday morning it was packed with pre-match drinkers, with a few people dining. It's a fairly characterless pub similar to a Wetherspoons, albeit with an inferior selection of ales. Yesterday's visit revealed Marston English Pale Ale, Greene King Old Speckled Hen and Brains Reverend James. Probably not one I'd return to.

Whenever i've been in it's been pretty empty (around lunch time). The staff are pleasant, the prices are very competitive. Nothing to complain about. Nice place.

Good Goose pub - plenty of room - very competitive prices

Large barn in typical Goose style. 6 handpumps but only 3 beers on, none of them very exciting. Had a pint of Bombardier, it was OK.

Friday lunch time strolled into the Posada expecting to get a pint of MILD what with it being the CAMRA meeting place and MILD in MAY season but no, no MILD walk out straight into the Goose. This place reminded me of visiting time at an old peoples home, anyway upto the bar loads of different lagers and ales but where are they hiding the MILD. Yet another pub that discriminates against the MILD drinker; no MILD walkout! So off I went to the Moon Under Water for a refreshing drink of Highgate Dark MILD.
