Yesterday's fun started in Bognor Regis, a seaside resort I've not been to before. The Hatters Inn was a good place to start for a breakfast and a pint. Ales were Sharp's Doom Bar, Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best, Dorking Ryesing Sun & Lunar White, Welton's Congress, Flack Manor Romsey Gold, Irving Spinnaker & Jennings Sneck Lifter. The cider was Thistly Cross Whisky Cask. Service was a bit haphazard. I'm sure I was charged incorrectly and my breakfast came without 2 items, whilst another breakfast was not what we'd ordered. Nevertheless, there doesn't appear to be too much real ale in this town. So, the Wetherspoon's is an oasis for locals and visitors alike.

Below average Wetherspoons in a below average seaside resort - about the best you'll get in the town though. No real redeeming points about this town where the stress and emphasis definitely lies with the first syllable.

Extremely large ‘Spoons in the centre of Bognor.
My first visit a couple of Saturday’s ago around 5.30pm and there were 10 hand pumps on the bars. A decent selection of ales with my choice being the South African offering of Nils Oscar @ 5.3%...a very decent pint.
Busy with mainly blokes but quiet in the pub, not rowdy at all.
The television was on and they were showing the news.
I’d heard a lot about this pub and it wasn’t good but on my visit I found it to be thoroughly decent ‘Spoons.

Very nice breakfast had in here saturday. Lovely guinness compared to butlins. Older people"s pub in the daytime, very friendly. Good service, nice smoking area out back.
|
Most staff are efficient, food not bad, and although the ales were well kept there was, usually, only one guest beer on at a time.
|
Very polite staff food not bad, nut the the beers not on great condition
|
Efficient, polite service and an excellent pint of Arundel Stronghold in a clean and welcoming pub.
|
typical weatherspoon pub.you would think you were up north with the size of the head on the beer.dont they know people expect to get what they pay for.a pint is a pint.slow service. like i said typical weatherspoons pub
|
It's your typical Weatherspoons and one of the old school ones too. That said it is a decent place with friendly staff and plenty of room for a drink. Tried the new ploughmans that 'spoons offer and for 4.75 it's certainly not bad. Decent choice of drinks too.

The landlord of this pub runs a tight ship which results in speedy, polite service and good beer. Certainly a cut above the average Wetherspoons.
|
This is the most well run Wetherspoon's Pub in Britain. The Real Ale is excellent as is the food. The staff are extremely efficient and very friendly. Went in on a busy Friday night and had a thoroughly enjoyable night although the toilets could do with an occassional clean.

popped in on the way back from Selsey Friday after Easter for a breakfast at about 09 30, strange to see people on the ale that time of day, I had a decent breakfast but stuck to coffee although i was tempted, must give it a try some time

Spoons tend to lack atmosphere,or seem to have a strange vibe unique to them, this is no different, but if you get a nice booth with a few friends you can have a decent time here, their choice of ales is hard to match, the food is a bit hit and miss, but when in Bognor this is usually where we end up

Picture the scene. We were visiting the other half's relatives in Bognor and were planning on taking them to lunch at a nice Sussex country pub. The best laid plans and all that - they wanted to go to the local Wetherspoons.
Food was average and the clientele were average Witherspoons customers, ie. not dissimilar to the patrons of that bar in Star Wars. Packed, and probably familiar to Dante, on a Saturday afternoon.
The beer was ok thoug.

Very dull pub...Food was good though and had a decent beer. Wouldnt hurry back
|
Dreadful Wetherspoons affair full of typical Bognor people. This town is even worse than Pompey, which is really saying something.
|
Large spoons with good choice of drinks and comfy sofas.
|
I have to say that this was one of the blandest of the Spoons pubs I have ever been in. After half a pint I was ready to top myself.
Dull? Nah, beyond that!
|
Typical Wetherspoons pub not far from the sea front. Sandwiches & wraps were good. Atmosphere was OK given that it was lunchtime. Couple of beers were not on but had a very good pint of Deuchars IPA. Give it a try.
|
Typical Wetherspoon outlet. Good cheap drinks and food but boring with little history and atmosphere.
