What a splendid little bar, this is where you come when you have a taste for really good music, and really good drinks. Xx

Great acoustic night on a friday. good looking barmaids and cheap drinks = a great night.
|
Easily the best bar in town - after years it still outdoes any other bar in Colchester. The music is ridiculously good and diverse, the crowd's friendly, and the smoking area is the best in town, bar none. Huge drinks selection, cocktails are good, particularly mojitos. Toilets much better too. Great place to be, particularly on a Bank Holiday when it's packed.

Now playing live music on Friday nights which just adds to the atmos. Think it is important to support these independent bars as it would be a boring world without them!

Still the best bar in town. As a regular customer think the owners have listened to bad press on the toilets - not much they can do but have made much better recently. MUSIC still the best, RANGE of drinks huge!!

I actually love this bar! Definitely the best bar in Colchester by miles. Best alternative music, loads of drinks options, and there's never any attitude that you get from those other "townie" places. Keep rocking the free world Twisters!!!

I have much fun in here. true the toilets are appalling but the times there are great. drinks selection is very wide especially if you like your spirits. can't believe from previous comments thats how twisters used to be. thank god its not anymore! bar staff are quite fun sometimes you get a serious one or two. bouncers are good with I.D. the outside part is where i like to be with all my friends, last month all of twisters was singing happy birthday for my friends 20th! amazing times. is a little pricey, and the bouncers sometimes dont cover any trouble that may happen inside properly. but its rare trouble happens in there. good times.

Toilets - shocking Beer - decent selection Other drinks - again, pleasing, but a bit pricey Music - good Temperature - too hot!!

It used to great, but its been on a downward slope for a couple of years now. The tunes are more commerical, the staff are now aggy rather than fun, and for some reason its attracting the dirty shirt yates lovers. Having said all that its still way better than most bars in colchester

Is ok on a thursday night, but the toilets are appalling - the door to the mens is always wide open! Good if you dont expect too much of it. Only giving it a five though because of the awful loos.

nice place, but only when the bar staff and bouncers feel like it!,very selective about who they let in with no discernable form of judgement.A group of us (3 men 2 women) turned up,asked if they were open and told no,even though after ringing the bar staff i was told they were!,then a group that arrived after us were allowed in!.if you do get in its cramped and a has a slightly sinster air to it.A very exploitative pub, they'll serve you 4 drinks at last orders then snatch them off you if you complain when they're herding everyone out on the dot!.This used to be a great place but its sold out,of course this is all my opinion!

A really nice place to go for a night out, a fair selection of beers (though no ales), no chav-related trouble, and good enough music to accomodate even my preposterously specific tastes. "One of Colchester's best-kept secrets" indeed.

After a meal in Colchester my wife and I ended up in Twisters, our son goes there, we were twice the age of everyone else, apart for the DJ and we had just about the best night I can remember, the staff were great, the music exceptional and the youngsters made us feel really welcome. Cool! As I believe the young people say. I'm only giving it a 9 as the toilets were a bit iffy (a very old person type of thing to say). Alex

Quasi- sophisticated? This pub is dark, messy dingy and small... and I love it! Seriously good atmosphere and nothing pretentious about about it. Good patrons, fit barmaids, something a bit different, awesome. I agree. Don't tell too many people about it. It's great as it is.

Completely agree with everything everyone else has said, this place is one of Colchester's best kept secrets. Just hope the squaddies don't learn to work computers and find this website! :)
Great place to go if your planning a quasi-sophisticated night out as there are also some of Colchesters finest restaurants over the road which you can eat in and then burn off on the Twisters dance floor!
