Part of Saturday pub crawl. V popular. Beer a bit pricey but ok. Food popular. Nice garden. Average pub. Preferred it when it had a traditional bar set up to open plan.

This pub has really gone down hill lately, the pint of Youngs bitter I was served was off and was replaced with London Pride that was far too cold.

less atmosphere than the local mc spoons, beer very average, wander round to the barley or the hole in the wall to see how a pub should be, and enjoy nice beer

We held our function here and what a function it was. Extremely pleased with the service and will be returning again and again. We held my 30th birthday in their function room, greeted with welcome drinks on arrival, immaculate staff who always had a smile for us, and the buffet was wonderful. Food a plenty to feed both our families. We can't thank them enough for their help in putting my night together. Thank you Lynn and Dave - your pub is a credit to you. Kind regards

Took the family along to white horse on Sunday 15th July 2012 for their Sunday Carvery we had been recommended by a friend. I can not rate it high enough, the meat was perfectly cooked, and being able to go up again for more veg and potatoes certainly pleased my family. The staff were wonderful, they couldn't do enough. We have returned numerous times since and have been pleased every time

Just moved to Portsmouth for uni and found the white horse just down the road, as a hospitality student I found the place warm and welcoming with friendly staff and proper good grub!!!

More incarnations than Dr Who over the years. Was VERY popular with the youngsters at one point but they seem to have moved on. These days there is little to recommend it and I would think its days are numbered. Were it not for the fact it is right on the common it would have shut yonks ago.

Have been here before for lunch and it used to a be great. Went back today for a Sunday roast and whilst the food was really good the service was appalling. We sat for 20 minutes with empty plates in front of us waiting to try and order a dessert. When the staff eventually appeared we commented that we had been waiting for a while - no apology or any attempt at one. Needless to say we left without dessert and won't be returning.

A good range of beers, all in good nick and a Bar Billiards table. What more could you want. I would expect it to be busy of an evening and at weekends.

Now known as The White Horse, picture above confirms it, and has been known as the White Horse for some time. Can't comment on the beer as haven't been there but the landlord who comes into my pub seems a fine fellow.

the place to take your mother for a meal if she likes frozen food!
