please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Had dinner here with friends after a visit to the nearby country park.

The food was nice and the kids' menu was well priced, but I thought the other mains were a bit expensive for what you got.

Three ales. The Seafarers was in decent nick and I guess £4.40 for a pint is par for the course in these parts.

Friendly staff and clientele and a nice little play area out back.

The Landlord is very unfriendly and has poor customer service. She doesn't make you feel welcome. I would not recommend this pub.

I am outraged at the level of customer service, or complete lack thereof at this establishment.

I wish I had read some of the reviews on here before going here for lunch. But everything that is written about the landlady is very true.

I went to this pub for lunch with a colleague and were told there'd be a 20-30 minute wait for food, since we have an hour for lunch, this was manageable, so we went ahead and placed our order for 1 salad and I baguette. 1 hour later we still didn't have our food.

We were refused a refund by the landlady who instead informed us that we had entered into a contract when we ordered, to pay for the food we had ordered. There was no apology, instead we were asked if we wanted her details, then she added 'Do you want my manager's details?' And when we said yes, she said, it's there, that's me. It was all very childish and petty and completely unnecessary. She also told us she would be happy if we didn't come back. So we won't.

I am stunned by this woman's attitude towards customers, and general persona. She most definitely hates her job and seizes any opportunity to have a little power trip, albeit at the expense of her business reputation. Very very bizarre.

My colleagues and I will most definitely not be returning here in the future.

The Pub looked good was clean and tidy and staff were friendly and well presented, the disappointing aspect of my visit was that a price of a Pint of Peroni was 4.60, i don't mind paying a bit more for a pint, but this was extreme.... i will be checking the drink prices in the area.
Maybe it was because im a visitor and not a local.

very disapointed, having looked foreward to visiting for mothers day. the food was well below standard the roast beef in particular was the worst ive ever tasted, an absolute load of old pony&trap and the same unfortunatly goes for the staff especially the landlady. what a waste of money i wish i had gone to mcdonalds

It will never cease to amaze me why people who so clearly despise the human race go into the hospitality industry.
The lion & Lamb is locally infamous for having the rudest most hateful landlady in the county, if not the country.
My place of work have now vetoed this pub because any sane person does not work hard all week to spend their money somewhere in which you are made to feel you are a disgusting nuisance to the miserable landlady. I know from speaking with others that I am not alone in finding this place sub standard and a nasty experience.
If you visit the area there are plenty more pubs close to this, even one opposite, and so I would really suggest avoiding this one like the plague. What would you miss if you choose not to go here? Stodgy greasy food slapped down in front of you with a snarl & terrible wine thats all.
I have witnessed customers being spoken to & treated terribly on several occasions and have also had some of the same treatment myself. Last week a pregnant colleague of mine handed the landlady 8. In the transfer a one pound coin dropped behind the pump, before my colleague could even say anything the landlady snapped "Right well once that's gone that's gone, there's no getting that back, you have to pay another pound!". My colleague asked if she could pay the additional pound after she's eaten if it still could not be found to which the landlady said an aggressive no. With that, the pound rolled out from behind the pump. On the last (and I mean LAST) work visit there the landlady stood behind a colleague of mine and started muttering - when a "pardon?" came her way she denied saying anything and yet you can absolutely tell from her manner she despises you, all of you. A visit to this pub is just not one worth sending a penny of your money on.
The customer in the Lion & Lamb is a fly to be swatted and nothing more.
Avoid this place!!!!!!

Visited this pub with work colleagues recently. OK beer selection but prices of some dishes are similar, if not higher, than those in the West End, and the kitchen was unwilling to make a simple substitution or suggest an alternative.

Admittedly we visited on a busy Friday lunchtime, but at the prices charged, I don't think the request was unreasonable.

Food itself was good so no concerns on that score, and having had no complaints on previous visits, I'm hoping this is a one off.

Just had a great Sunday lunch here, Staff were friendly and efficient, beer was great and the food was outstanding. No hesitation in recommending this pub.

Great pub. Have lived in the village for a couple of years now and this is my local (500 yrds away) coming up trumps above the Waggon & Horses and the White Horse which are equally as close. Prices are not cheap but the food and drinks are always very good. Friendly owners and staff means that I have spent alot of money here!

Stopped here for lunch as it looked good and busy which is usually a good sign. The pub was suitably packed but we were still made very welcome. The lady behind the bar was really helpful in finding us a table. Despite being warned that our meals might take about 20 minutes to be cooked (fresh to order we were told) they got to us much quicker. Very fresh and very delicious.
My London Pride was outstanding and the wife enjoyed her very chilled glass of Pinot Grigio.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and an absolute gem of a find, we will definitely be going back.

OUTSTANDING!
I wish this was my local.

We visited the Lion and Lamb with a party of friends on one of their Christmas party evenings. For 25 we got one of the best Christmas meals I have ever had , service second to none and a great party afterwards.

The girls looking after us were fantastic. Really attentive all night and definitely helped to get us in the Christmas spirit.

I have to say that it's a shame that there are not more pubs out there like this one. The food, obviously home cooked, was just fantastic. The staff friendly and the owners obviously care about their business and it shines through.

WELL DONE and thanks for making such a great effort to make our night one of the most memorable for ages.

We visited this pub as a large family party for a set Xmas Lunch.

Despite visiting the pub before booking to agree the layout and seating to make sure all members of the party were accomodated the room was set up with a table for four seperate from the rest of the party. When I asked if this could be rectified I was treated very rudely by the owner and told there was nothing she could do and if we didn't want the table don't have it.

As there were 16 of us there was not any option than to stay and eat.

At the end of the meal which was OK not great but edible we paid the bill and ordered coffee at which point we were told that the area had been booked for another party and we needed to move to the other bar. Again this had not been explained at the time of booking ans as people had travelled a long distance to get together we were expecting to spend at least 3 hours together.

As the party gathered together to move which meant gathering up children, bags of presents, crackers and a very young baby the owner came over and again was very rude in telling some members of our party to move.

Having spent nearly 300 that afternoon we all felt that the service was apalling and the possibility of repeat business nil.

I would not recommend this pub to anyone and certainly not anyone wishing to book a large party.

Typical locals pub, though with relatively upmarket menu and above-average beer prices. Landlord/Pride were good enough.
