Popped in here on Sunday afternoon whilst waiting for a bus. Very large pub as usual for Wetherspoons. Right in the centre of Northampton and close to the Market and the bus station. It was quiet and there was plenty of room. Some very local beers that I had not tried before. Beer was in good condition and staff very friendly.
True, there were some lines being cleaned and true, that the pump clips were turned to the front but the pumps that were not being used were clearly marked as unavailable.
Beer was cheap at 1.99. Food was standard Wetherspoons menu. Only chicken left on the roast front unfortunately. To be expected at 1600 on a Sunday afternoon. So I had steak and kidney pudding.
Wetherspoons generally, for me, is economical and I have never had an undrinkable pint. The food is always very reasonably priced.
Incidentally this pub is in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide.

Visited a few Sundays ago - sadly restricted to Becks Blue due to work. Very quiet, but nice friendly barmaid and excellent burger which was really cheap ! have to try again when I can drink real beer

The pub that most of Northampton has been to at some time or other. Good selection of booze. But cask ales always seem to be an issue. The tag always faces forward but they never have what they display. Maybe i'm just unlucky but every time i go they're near the end of the keg or they have to swap them over, which is a slow process. I actually like the odd deviants who hang aroung the entrance, they're entertaining.

I like it apart from they never have summer fruits Kopparberg at weekends. I'd suggest buying some more of that.

My FIRST pint of ale on the FIRST day of the smoking ban! They had all the pump clips facing 4ward although it was only on my 4th choice that i discivered one that was actually on! Decent enuff pint though, and a nice tidy little spoons. 8/10

I am a duty manager in this pub. The ACTUAL reason Wetherspoons pubs beer is so cheap is because, when you are part of a company which has over 600 pubs in England alone, it is very easy to get cheap deals from breweries and independant brewers, which allows you to sell the beer at a bargain price. This pub in particular has a lot of alcoholic regulars, and they all sit next to the main entrance of the pub, making it look untidy and full of tramps. However, speed of service and food quality in particular have always been praised.

Typical Wetherspoons. Do you know why their beer is so cheap? They buy it just before it's best before date that's why. Been here several times. Last time they had four real ales, three had run out the other was undrinkable. Haven't been since. Most Wetherspoon pubs are like this. Cheap? Yes. A decent drink? A toss up.
