K5 bus route
Done on 8th December 2001Plan: Go to various pubs along the route of the K5. A mad bus route, doesn't run on Sundays, never seems to get busy (well, not that surprising really, how many people often feel the need to get from Ham to Morden?). We started at the Morden end to make getting home at closing time as easy as possible.
The K5 runs once every hour, which means you've got plenty of time for a pint in each pub. This causes problems if you manage to miss one for whatever reason, but a lot of the route is also served by other buses which go the same way as the K5 for long enough to get you to the next pub.
We didn't make it to Ham, everyone liked the Fighting Cocks too much, but if you want to go the whole way then check out the suggested pubs below.
pubs we went to:
- Jack Stamp's, Morden
- The Leather Bottle, Wimbledon Chase
- The Junction Tavern, Raynes Park (no, Emma and Amanda, the Raynes Park Tavern is a different pub, don't go there)
- The Duke of Cambridge, New Malden
- The Earl Beatty, Motspur Park (where we had to have 2 pints because Mike's food took so long to arrive)
- The Fountain, New Malden
- Woodies, New Malden (we got a bit lost finding it as always, but it was worth it)
- The Fighting Cocks, Kingston
- The Wych Elm, Kingston
- The Hand and Flower, Ham
