Soothing cures and revitalizing recipes to get you through the following day with some level of comfort and dignity..

There are four main chapters in Hangover Cures, all aiming to reduce the affects of alcohol consumption in a humorous yet informative approach.
Before, during and after aims to give simple yet effective measures you can take before, during and after your night out. Most of the advice would seem very obvious; we all know that we should fill our stomachs with fatty foods before we head out, and that we should alternate alcohol beverages with glasses of water. Although this information is reinforced with scientific facts which persuade you take the advice more seriously, the mixture of humorous language and recognizable attitudes keeps the advice light-hearted and approachable.

Hair of the dog is a strange chapter that does not advocate this method as a cure, but offers ways in which to weather the storm just that little bit longer. What could be avoided simply for list of obscure and unique cocktails is in fact a collection of almost medicinal remedies to shun hangovers a little longer. Not for the faint hearted, most of the recipes consist of strong liquors such as crme de menthe/ fraise/pche, vermouth, vodka and tequila, and even raw eggs, yuk! But with catchy names such as corpse reviver and vodka sting, you are probably more likely to experiment with them on the night out, not the morning after. There was no surprise to notice that Ben had dedicated a entire chapter to bloody marys, and many variations of this legendary hangover cure. Preceded by hair of the dog, bloody marys also claims that the injection of alcohol (vodka, tequila, gin) mixed with spicy mixers like Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce helps to postpone the effects of your hangover.

The final main chapter is juices which aims to restore and revitalize your body more delicately than the previous chapters. My personal favorite, this chapter offers tantalizing recipes that make my mouth water just reading about them, and would be easy enough to make the night before ready for the morning when you have managed to roll out of bed. With basic ingredients like strawberries, apples, bananas, ginger, carrots and cream, its not going to cost you the earth either!

Summary:
This book offers fun, simple and direct advice that addresses students and mature party goers alike. The bright and sophisticated format is not over-complicated not without substance, and the witty one-liners and interesting facts along the way make the book not only informative, but an entertaining read. Once or twice there was some over-indulgent language and some fairly unsuccessful puns, but overall the book is inspiring and successful in delivering simple yet effective hangover cures.
