The Royal Standard of England, Beaconsfield

I've heard alot about the Royal Standard and have recently tried it on 3 occasions. The selection of beers available is excellent; the Old Peculiar in particular is looked after very well and tastes perfect, which unfortunately is an experience seldom enjoyed in pubs these days.
However it isn't all good. I ate their on 2 of my 3. On the 1st I just had the Devilled Kidney's and found them to be overcooked and slightly over seasoned. On the 2nd I tried the Mutton Pie and it was heavily over seasoned with salt and pepper. Very poor. My colleague had the same problem with his Sausuage and Mash. All in all a big surprise and a disappointment given the awards and reviews that the RSoE has received. They have recently taken over the Harte and Magpie near Amersham, so it is possible that the normal chef is down there trying to drum up custom; if so he needs to get back up to the RSoE to sort things out.
