The Almamata, Egham

a group of us have got in the habit of visiting the Alma Mata, (when will Beerintheevening.com update its name ?) and have always enjoyed a very warm and friendly welcome. The beer is good, the furnishings good, the staff courteous, and on the few occasions I have eaten there the food was first rate.
Just hope it continues in its present manner and doesn't decide to go down-market in order to improve its market-share.

Bells Of Ouseley, Old Windsor

visited at 12.30 on a quiet Tuesday lunchtime in Septembeer and was not impressed. One man serving at bar took 15 minutes to deal with three customers. Ordered a simple sandwich and gave our table number in the garden; 40 minutes later, a complaint to the bar produced the sandwich; instantly ! where had it been ? The sandwich and beer were good, but the garden was serioulsy unkempt, with litter and unwiped tables - presumably from the prvious day. Looks as though some serious management is called for.
