Prince Of Wales, Putney

I haven't posted about any other pubs before so martinl probably won't believe what I say, but whatever...

I live in Cambridge, and this pub is a great meeting point for when I go to see my friends in Putney.

The pub is not too loud or trendy to put off people who don't like those things in a pub - whenever I've been there has been a nice mix of people which adds to the atmosphere.

The bar area is very relaxed and the staff are very friendly, and each time I've been the beer and food has been excellent - both in choice and presentation - and not too expensive.

My only criticism would be that more 'bar food' could be offered for those who don't want to eat a full meal in the restaurant.

Unlike so many pubs of this kind (gastro-pub? I don't know what the right word is) the restaurant is separate from the pub proper, although none of the atmosphere is lost when you are in there.

I had a go at the quiz one Sunday evening and (apart from almost missing the last train home) this was one of the better pub quizzes I've done in a while - the prize money isn't too bad either.
