The Volunteer, Sutton Abinger

We've been to this pub occasionally over a number of years, principally because there's a lovely circular walk from it. Five of us visited last weekend on the strength of the latest reviews, and were not disappointed.
When we ordered our food, we were told that there would be a half-hour wait, but in fact our starters arrived promptly, and both these and the main courses were excellent. Good beer too!
Because it was busy, we sat at a table in the back room. Soon after mentioning to the staff that one of our party was feeling a draught, the manager (?) came to offer us a table which had become free in the main bar (where the fire was roaring away) - impressive!
The service overall was efficient and courteous, and we will certainly be returning the next time we want a walk in this lovely part of Surrey.
