The George IV, Kentish Town

Have been coming here for 20 years and still haven't plucked up the courage to chat up the most attractive bar person in north London. You've noticed I've avoided talking about the beer and ambiance, which is strictly average. But the clientele is true Kentish Town and deserves your custom for that reason alone. Family legend holds that my Granddad attempted to 'nick' a car from outside this hostelry after leaving a wedding reception held here in the early 50's. Luckily he was too drunk to gain entry. A proud moment for us all.

The Grafton Arms, Kentish Town

it really is an excellent pub. However, it seems a shame that it needs to 'bend the knee' to the local (and not so local) boho yuppies. (is there such a cohort?) I can barely write this review due to the weight of the chip on my shoulder. Hey, the pub is thriving and is going to survive, so I'm going to stop moaning.

The Prince of Wales, Twickenham

Didn't try the food but have heard good things. As a pub it's fine. Staff are attentive and fun. Manager mixes with the clientele and handles the less sober drinkers well. A great local but not worth travelling from the Shetlands
