Swan And Cemetery, Bury

What has happened here? This used to such a nice pub. I haven't been for a while but on a recent sunny day I went out for a drink to the Swan with my daughter and her 7 month old baby girl.

What an unpleasant experience. Fences erected, doors slammed shut to bar access - you name it, you got it.

I spoke to the owner. He told me "if you don't like it, you can go somewhere else". Even more amazingly, he then said that his customers enjoying a drink outside should not be there because, since they were not eating, they were breaking the rules. So, he must have shut the door to "punish" the customers.

Do any of us need to be "wecolmed" like this by an obnoxious sod when we go out to relax? I think not. Pity that such a good pub has been ruined. Unless and until there is a change of ownership, I will never go back. Also, I will pass the word around about his attitude.

The Robert Peel, Bury

Do not agree with most of the other comments. Maybe it is a bit unbourgeois but the beer is great and very inexpensive. Friday lunchtime - very busy and good atmosphere.

The Two Tubs Inn, Bury

Good beer and cosy pub. Will barstaff please learn how to serve a gin and tonic. They should not drown the gin by pouring the tonic into the glass.
