The Chapel, Marylebone

I don't know what this place is like when it's heaving in the post-work rush but on a Sunday, when you can get a table and take your time it really is superb.

We had three different meals there and they were all excellent; really well cooked, not too pretentious and although not cheap, not overly expensive.

I'd definitely go there again at an 'off time' to enjoy the beer, the wine and the food and chat with friends.

The Knowle Hotel, Knowle

Until recently, this used to be my local.

The public bar is a bit scary and the lounge is a bit cliquey it has to be said. I have no shame though and so got stuck in talking to the locals and all was good.

The landlord is a bit... Off-handish and could really do with getting stuck in and making the place what it could be. As has been said, the place is crying out for a quality local but unfortunately The Knowle isn't it yet.

The Clachan, Soho

This place is a regular of mine and it's one of the best in the West End.

I have known times when the service hasn't been brilliant but they've been few and far between.

The beer is well kept and they have a good selection of ales. The lager is... Well, lager. The menu is good pub food and it's usually served quickly. The pies and the toad in the hole are especially good.
