The Commercial Hotel, Slaithwaite

Good choice of beers, but I don't like the layout. It seems to be a traditional snug, bar and lounge boozer that has had some of the internal walls ripped out to make it open-plan. I can't help feeling it would have been much better if left alone. Fuchsia coloured walls and patterned wallpaper too. Nice. If I'm in Slaithwaite again I may pop in, but I wouldn't make a special effort to go there.

The Riverhead Brewery Tap, Marsden

Tried 2 very nice Riverhead brews - my memory seems to be letting me down on their names though. Can't think why... Great place - was bustling but friendly on a Saturday night. Easily the best pub in Marsden, will definitely come back again.

The Railway Hotel, Marsden

Very handy for the station - the name is a give away! 3 or 4 real ales, but nothing too exciting. Hardly any seating though, a few tables and chairs around the edge and a big expanse of floor in between. Fine for a pre-club bar, but for a country pub? Chip butties were rubbish too - measly amount of chips in sliced bread.
