Profile information

No longer living in the UK, but I travel there at least once or twice a year. On my visits I always try to stay in B+B Pubs. I now live in the western part of Austria.

Black Horse, Nuthurst

Very nice small country pub, out of the way with a large pleasant garden and good sized car park. I always visit this Pub once or twice on my very infrequent visits to the UK. Traditional old Sussex pub with good food if you want it, the beers are well kept. Jazz in the garden on sunny Sundays. A few years ago this pub was very well frequented, and packed on Sunday lunch, but not so now, on my last visit (a sunny weekday lunch time), I only counted a dozen or so customers in the two hours I was there. But its the same as a lot of the pubs in the UK now, quite a few are struggling for business or closing.

The Basketmakers Arms, Brighton

This is the first place I make for when I visit Brighton. It used to be my local many years ago when I lived there. Its the only pub that I don't really mind about the the food being served, if you know what I mean. Top Pub, Brighton's best, bar none. If Fullers don't want it, I'll have it like a shot.

White Hart, Henfield

I use to drink here a lot when the two gay guys ran it. They kept the place absolutely spotless, and it was possibly the best Pub in the village along with the Gardeners when Terry Kirby had it.
On a recent visit last year after a few years away from the Village, I was quite surprised at the change in the place. Certainly a lot more grubby and the local clientele had also moved on by the looks of things.
