The Royal Oak, Rochford

Decided to take the tribe out for a Sunday lunch and remembered this pub was pretty good but could get busy at lunchtime. Having checked here and found Glenn's review was quite positive and recent, we went for it. I have to say that this pub is still a good place for a Sunday lunch. We had three really well cook dishes and my pint of IPA was in good condition and slipped down just a treat!
My only small concern was that the pub was nothing like as busy as I remember it being. It looks like the downturn is biting the pub trade badly. Get out there folks and support out pubs or we'll lose gems like the Royal Oak.

The Volunteer, Sutton Abinger

A nice pub in the Surrey Hills that I would recommend for a nice lunch on a sunny Sunday. Food was nice and the beer really good. Definitely a nice place to have a walk followed by a pint - the scenery here (both landscape and organic) is absolutely lovely. Children appear to be welcome too.
