The Crown and Horns Inn, East Ilsley

Used to be a fun friendly pub with an excellent Timothy Taylor and really tasty food, not over-priced. Then the landlord left (along with his whisky bottle collection) and things went down hill. Food now rubbish and service bordering on rude and disinterested. Sad as the place had so much potential.

The Harrow, West Ilsley

Lovely location just opposite the cricket pitch and near the duck pond! Good beers and good non-pretentious food. Landlord not over-exubriant but friendly nevertheless. Considering it's in such a twee village and location prices are reasonable. Worth a visit but try not to park your car on the drive directly outside where folks are eating and watching the cricket, as some ignoramuses do. Try the road instead.

The Fox and Hounds, Peasemore

I agree about the landlord's poor attitude. Went there on my own on a Sunday lunchtime when it was almost empty and ordered a roast. When I attempted to sit down at a table for 4, as it was near the windows and I wanted some light to read, I was told I had to take a table for 2. This was WHEN the place was almost empty. The place remained empty and I can see why. Avoid.
