The Kings Arms, Mickleton

Recently booked table and went for dinner at this pub with my parents and friends.
The pub itself is gorgeous, very well decorated and arranged inside and had great real ales on tap. Sadly the pub is also filled with bric-a-brac and antiques all for sale which is a horribly naff idea.
We enjoyed our drinks and looked at ...the very limited menu which offered all the usual pub fayre and some unusual starters such as mini cheddars in Marmite which turned out after a long wait to be balls of cheese placed on Marmite smeared on the plate. We avpided the pretentiously named 'Artisanal cheeses...'

A salmon starter turned out to be a miniscule piece of salmon with a tiny potato and two small pieces of asaparagus drenched in oil-just that nothing else.

The main course of braised beef tasted delicious but came with no vegetables at all, just a tiny ammount of potato, the portion was derisory.

The service was strained, they were understaffed and were just about polite, they brought warm bottled water to the table and when we asked for extra chips they warned us that it may take a while as they cook everything from scratch.
Five minutes later some undercooked oven fries arrived in a tiny bowl.

Poor-ish service and mediocre food in tiny portions hugely over-priced. Avoid eating here and enjoy the pub by having a drink and nothing more.
