The Tontine Inn, Melverley

time to give an up to date comment. visited the Tontine Inn with my girfriend in passing and were immediatly impressed by the surroundings, comfort and welcome we had. we didnt have to intention to eat here but a quick glance at the menu showed a great selection of food and snacks and a good price.. the drinks came quickly as did an offer to try a new cider sample for free. the girfriend ended up ordering a glass of it on the back of it.. we sat in some very comfy leather type armchairs (the type you could fall asleep in) by the fireplace whilst browsing the menu and drinking our drinks.
we eventualy ordered our food then moved round to the pleasantly new conseratory, being served by a friendly and politley spoken waitress. the food came in reasonable time on warm plates as should only be expected. the food also met our high expectations.
our visit was around 2pm saturday so we could expect to get served quite quickly at that time of day. i would fully expect to wait a little longer to be served or food to arrive on a busy evening. with the Tontine being next to a campsite situated next to a very old B/W timber church by a river i could see this place being busy and would not dream of just dropping in on a weekend evening and hope for a free table.
all in all we were very happy and are even planning to take visiting friends there shortly.
thank you all at the Tontine
