The Radcliffe Arms, Hitchin

Went with a group of friends with high expectations after seeing the amount of time and effort obviously spent on the place. Shame about the roadworks and the overly pushy 'security' on the door. Wine was on the expensive side and I don't think they were allowing people to just come in for a drink. Food ok but could have been warmer and quicker to our table.

That sounds great! I googled the owner's name from the NHDC planning application and apparently he is some New York based investor. Not another Madoff I hope as the community don't want to lose the pub again! Glad that some money is being spent on the place and a gastro-pub might just work.
