The Old Dog, Herongate

I call this my Local although its 3 miles away and I have Pubs closer, Great homely pub., always a good selection of Guest Beers from all over the country from the Barrel to try before you buy. Food is always excellent whether you are bar snacking or seating in the restaurant section. The old part of the Pub is the original Coaching Inn dating back to the 17th Century (I think) with the original low beams so if you are tall like me mind your head.

Bridge Inn, Horton

I have been reading some strange Reviews regarding this Hostelry, which are not commensurate with my own. All I can say is that those negative reviewers must had be unfortunate to frequent on an off day (we all have those don't we). When in the area I always make a point of calling into this excellent Pub. The Lancashire Hot Pot is to die for ! Well not literally anyhow. I have always founf the landlord and staff very warm and welcoming and would recommend anyone to call in when in the area whatever the Season.
