The Old White Lion, East Finchley

This pub is local for me and it is really annoying that they can't get it right. Last night they didn't have any guiness. When I was there two weeks ago it was the same. I also wanted a small port for my mother. The bar man put it in a glass with ice which I didn't ask for and then I was told they only sold port in doubles. My mother is nearly 90 yrs old and didn't want a double.
Apparently a lot of these drinks are only sold as doubles only. I said I'd pay for a single but they wouldn't sell it that way company policy.
What sort of pub policy is it that forces you to have doubles.
They poured the port down the sink rather than sell it as a single.
I'm afraid that was too much for us and we went to the Bald Face Stag.
Many years ago Ye Old White Lion was a thriving pub where it was a job to get served it was so busy. Then they changed management and they have spent the last 10 years or more trying to get their customers back.
They made no effort last night to make us feel wanted. This is such a pity because with the current management there were real signs that we might have had our local back.
