The Station, Hither Green

The new licencees have done a complete refit and refurbish, adding a dining area and creating a decent garden at the back. Six real ales routinely on tap. Good food at reasonable prices for what you get, which is posh versions of pub staples, sharing platters and gastropub meals. Service is considerably more welcoming to new patrons than previously. The fact that the place is now routinely full even on weeknights suggests they've judged their market right in an area that for better or worse is continuing to gentrify.

The Lord Northbrook, Lee

I can confirm this pub has had a total overhaul and has been rechristened the Lord Northbrook. Total contrast to descriptions above of the old place which I'd been past but not into. Five good real ales on when I was last in, including two from Adnams, Everard's Tiger, Doom Bar and London Pride. Wine list also better than average for a pub. Staff were extremely welcoming, knowledgeable when chatting about beer and offered a free sample of the Tiger without prompting or even a hint from me. They do tasty, poshed up pub food at prices that are reasonable if you're thinking it's a cheap-ish restaurant and expensive if you're thinking it's pub grub. Kids welcome when dining says the sign which gives you a good idea about the atmosphere. First time I came we brought our two year old and 'dining' on that occasion was limited to a pack of crisps. Decor and furnishing of a generally high standard and although there are a lot of old photos that relate to nothing in particular, they have resisted the temptation to dress the place up with a liberal sprinkling of ye olde tat. Would definitely recommend it.
