Shiremoor House Farm, North Shields

The food here is one of the main draws, serving excellent flavours in contemporary but satisfying servings. Very large pub with lots of tables it does get very busy, particularly at Sunday lunch, but it is well worth hunting out a table. Various beers on tap with a changing range of real ale alongside staples such as Black Sheep. Best pub in the area by a country mile!

The Foxglove, Huddersfield

A large, mock-tudor pub with rooms and ample parking (albeit on the very steep decline leading down to the pub) Spacious interior with an open fire at one end with lots of dining spaces dotted around the place and comfy armchairs tucked away in quieter areas. Good range of alcohol, with changing beers, decent selection of good lager and a wide range of wines should cater for even the most difficult of tastes. For a chain (Vintage Inns) it manages to retain the character it had when it was the Three Owls (so many years ago, but a name I always refer to it by) and even the food escapes the chain monotony to produce good, satisfying meals.

The Woodman Inn, Kirkburton

Lovely country pub in the middle of the small hamlet of Thunderbridge, just outside Kirkburton itself. The beer in here is always excellent whilst the food is outstanding. Very popular throughout the year, though best to avoid at Christmas and New Year if you dislike crowds as it gets packed inside. Car park opposite and tables outside for the nicer weather. There is a larger restaurant upstairs, which I haven't eaten in but if the standard is like the bar food then you are onto a winner. Some rooms available too, this is the pub for all occasions!
