The Marquis, Covent Garden

I think this is a great place to do for a drink. I much prefer this pub to the faceless chain pubs and wine bars that make up most of the places to go for a drink around this area.

They also do some nice food upstairs at lunchtimes. They've gone for the random collection of chairs and tables approach to decor, which is again refreshing compared to the local competition. Gives the place a bit of character. The food is just pub grub really, but nicely done and good value.

I've also found that the Marquis is a bit quieter than a lot of places and it's pretty quick and easy to get a drink, even on a Friday evening.

The only criticism I've got is that one or two of the bar staff can be a bit grumpy, but even so I'd recommend the Marquis to anyone who fancies a couple of beers in the heart of the West end.
