I visited this pub whilst passing through Portswood one weekday lunchtime, was peckish so bought an Echo from the nearby newsagents and went in. Excellent pint and the 16oz rump steak meal (8 quid something) is only some 90p more than the 8oz equivalent, it was cooked to absolute perfection. A nice independant pub with their own menu, would definately go there again.

A fantastic pub, a city centre equivalent of the Newport (Braishfield, nr Romsey). Looks like it hasn't been decorated since time immemorial. Some chap at the bar (first time visit) was told to eff off by the parrot.

The Red Lion, Bitterne
I visited this pub whilst having my car repaired in a garage on the industrial estate opposite. Pint OK, felt a bit pecko, so i ordered some 'cheesie chips', they were truly disgusting, tasted like they'd been deep fried in old engine oil.
