The King Charles I, Kings Cross

My wife, 3 week old baby daughter and I went to their festival today. Barman saw us come in and settle at an empty table. I went to the bar to order some drinks and barbecue food. My wife took a scarf out of her bag so she could breastfeed our daughter discreetly in the corner. At that point the barman told her indiscreetly from across the room 'Do you think that's appropriate?'. He then told me that they have a no children policy and told us to leave.
We're new parents and I enjoy real ale. I really hope that this old pub can ditch its old fashioned attitude towards women.

The New Inn, St Johns Wood

I cycle past this pub every day but on went in for the first time today for Saturday lunch. I think it has been refurbished during the past year or so. Greene King beers were in good condition. Very good food, upmarket menu, and the barman was friendly. Prices were reasonable: not cheap and not expensive. The pub appears to have its own King Charles spaniel which sits on a bar stool looking at customers. Best of all the pub never looks too busy, so a good place to relax away from the busier streets.

The Dumb Bell, Chalfont St Peter

Was on a walking holiday and was pleased to find this pub opens before noon on Sundays. Landlord lit the log fire especially for us to warm up! Wide range of good food available, including Sunday carvery. I think there were over 70 dishes on the menu, and best of all it was proper pub food with no gastro pub pretensions or silly prices. Three good real ales on tap too: London Pride, Doom Bar and Timothy Taylor Landlord.
