The Question, Forest Hill

Went on Saturday evening as part of a large group celebrating niece's 16th birthday. Ordered the soup of the day (cream of tomato and pepper. Unfortunately, this had to be returned, as the "cream" had a distinctly unpleasant "off cheese" flavour. My wife had a bottled orange drink. She had drunk some of it and then read the label. It said it was "best before end June 2013". We were in there on 2nd November 2013. It was replaced but the bar staff poured the drink, without showing my wife the date on the bottle. My steak and chips was very dry, the meal came on a wooden board, not a proper plate, the steak was lukewarm (but the chips, as in MacDonalds, were in a paper bag, were at least hot). Coffee was OK. Afterwards, some of the young people (aged 12 - 20) went to dance downstairs. The adults were told that they had either to join them or leave at 11.00 pm and return at midnight. They could not sit upstairs, away from the noise, despite the fact that there were vast areas of empty seats. I questioned who would be legally liable for the young people if the adults left, particularly if something went wrong. The manager denied that it would be them, although it was he who was telling the adults what their "choice" was. He said it was a separate company running the room downstairs! So, sorry, but this family man will be reporting this, as will many of the adults there, to their families and friends. A definite "never again".
