The Cittie of Yorke, Holborn

What a crying shame. This is a beautiful pub with bags of atmosphere and history and loads of space. Yet when I visited (midweek lunchtime) there can't have been more than a dozen customers rattling around in the place. The Aussie barstaff knew little and cared even less. And the food was indistinguishable mush. I didn't even stay for one drink, and that says a lot. I would have rated it zero were it not for the architecture.

The Blue Anchor, Chancery Lane

To be honest, it turned out to be better than I expected, having read the reviews. But it's a complete con historically. Not only is it not the original pub, but someone should tell them the Blue Anchor connected with Jack The Ripper was in Royal Mint Street E1, not Rolls Passage (or Chancery Lane) ! Their blurb on the tables claims two of his victims spent their last evening there. Not true.
