The Lemon Tree, Covent Garden

Quality of beer is questionable I agree but the food in this place rocks! Highly recommended for a quick, tasty and cheap Thai lunch or dinner (even if you do have to wash it down with a dodgy pint!).

The Crown and Crooked Billet, Woodford Green

Good reliable local pub with nice fire in the winter and great beer garden in the summer. Friendly staff, good selection of beers and the food is pretty good too. Recommend.

King George V, Ilford

Smoke-filled white van man pub with unfriendly staff to non-locals. Only saving grace is the food which they serve in plentiful portions. Opt for the Chequers or Valentine instead.
