The Dog Inn, Grundisburgh

We had Sunday lunch here & thoroughly enjoyed it. Not a massive portion of food, but more than adequate, & very well cooked and presented. Had the house wine (reasonably priced), so can't comment on the beer. Decor is typical old village pub, & I wouldn't want that to change.

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn, Castleton

My wife & I and two friends stayed here for 3 nights. It's a great pub, and the food was excellent - we ate here 2 out of the 3 nights. The owners and staff were very friendly and welcoming. We'd certainly stay here again. Our only slight criticism is that the bedrooms could do with a bit of TLC

The George Hotel, Castleton

My wife & I and our 2 friends were staying in Castleton for a few days. We had enjoyed a beer or two in the George on the previous night, so decided to eat there the next day. What a mistake! My wife's meal was OK, but the other 3 of us had different pies. The steak & ale pie smelt off, and the rabbit pie was almost inedible. The lamb & black pudding pie was not much better. The vegetables were completely over cooked, and without doubt the worst chips we've ever had anywhere. We complained and asked to see the chef, but he wasn't willing to see us. They reduced the bill by the price of one pie. The "front of house" staff were friendly & understanding, so we didn't give them too much of a hard time as it wasn't their fault. My wife also complained that the ladies loos were not very clean.
