The Wooden Spoon, Downton

A lovely family run pub serving honest homemade food. On the sunday we went in there was a choice of 3 roasts as well as the normal menu boards. Having been in there for a drink one sunday we knew it was popular so booking a table is a must.
They have a sign saying we do not serve fast food we serve good food.
Unfortunately many people want their food at their table within 10 minutes and hate waiting, what has happened to going out for a nice relaxed meal these days!
It was so good we are going again today for lunch!! My Mum has just moved to Downton and this is her nearest pub and we will be visiting regularly as a familly!!
Keep up the good work.

The Bull, Downton

I went here one evening as my Mum had just moved into the village and we couldnt be bothered to cook.
It was a saturday evening, the waitress didnt even know where we were meant to order food. Myself and my Mum had a carvery which we queued up for to find out we had to go to the bar and pay first! My Son decided to have sausage & mash as he thought the carvery looked crap! They didnt even have any mashed potato so he had chips instead.
The carvery was over cooked meat, over cooked veg which was only carrots and cabbage. Brought in roast potato's, parsnips & yorkshire puddings. Not forgetting the paxo stuffing!!! Having trained as a chef and my husband is a head chef I can spot brought in food a mile off.
I will not be returning there!!!

The Langton Arms, Tarrant Monkton

This used to be a award winning pub. God knows what happened its terrible now. Its ok if you want to eat overpriced food which is badly served.

Makes me question how they still have a AA Rosette as they certainly don't deserve it.
