The Parrot Inn, Forest Green

Just returned from an awful evening at this pub. After forcing our way through the wall of locals at the bar we managed to get to our restaurant table. We were given a tiny table right next to the plate and cutlery cupboard which the staff accessed throughout our meal, opening and slamming the doors. When we asked if we could be moved we were told that the remaining tables would fill shortly - they didn't. It seems insane to put all of the two seater tables in the middle of a room next to the staff thoroughfare - it hardly makes for a romantic evening. To be fair, the starters were good and my salad seemed very fresh but the lamb I had for my main course was disappointing as the very thick bisto tasting gravy overwhelmed the dish. My partner said his steak was very good though. The little deli they have has a good range of foods and the produce looked very tempting but it is extremely overpriced. Overall...we couldn't wait to leave.
