The Marathon Restaurant, Chalk Farm

Been there, done that, even got the T-shirt. However the sheer quality of the place means I'll continue being a repeat customer.

One night when it was packed, we were drunk but also very satisfied after a delicious kebab I came up with a great idea...to steal a table from the back room.

My mate encouraged me to go for the stool instead, which in itself was challeng given I'd have to smuggle it out past the 12 turks. However I did succeed and ended up taking home a stool.

The Sir Richard Steele, Belsize Park

Several things need to be done to make this pub great again. 1) Bar the drug dealers (I've heard this has happened but I've not been back since). 2) Clean it. 3) Serve some better beer (I think Castlemaine XXXX was on tap last time!!!). 4) Get the live music back.

Then it would be great again.

The Hawley Arms, Camden

Given this boozer's location in the heart of Camden it should not come as a surpise to anyone, that the clientel are trying to be rock stars. Many of them are! Would the same people critise City pubs beacuse they were full of rich bankers!

Regardless the beer is good, the staff are friendly. Service is usually fast but the upstairs bar seemed slow one Friday night. I've not eaten but the menu looks attractive. The upstairs terrace is also a bonus, but will soon be pack full of smokers.

Overall top banana. Much better than that rip off Proud Gallery across the road.
