The Cornubia, Bristol

A remarkable little pub which is tucked away and hidden from all the tourists who frequent many of the city centre pubs. Some pubs just have that feeling of ‘rightness’ when you walk in and the Cornubia is right in that category. On entry you are greeted by friendly staff who are more than willing to offer advice on choice of drinks including several real ales. The food on offer is simple pub fare – pies and pasties which are good value and very tasty. The pub offers cosy seating inside where you can watch the turtles in a large tank (very relaxing I thought) or numerous benches outside in an enclosed area at the front. This really is a must visit if you are in Bristol – a cracking little pub. To find it just look for the Fire station – the pub is opposite.

The Lion, New Basford

Great atmosphere, friendly locals, great choice of real ales, free live music. A must visit if you're in the area - and the tram stops here as well! What more do you want? A legendary hostelry and deservedly so.
