The Ship and Anchor, Ford

Use the campsite regularly and am surprised by some of the comments - (and no, I am not the pub proprietor) Yes the landlady can be a little….. larger than life but she is a no nonsense type of Scot who no doubt says what she thinks.
I have found her very welcoming and friendly, no problem taking the dog in, beer and food available to take away etc etc.
i think the food is exceptional for a pub. If you want Harvester prices go to Harvester. I sat in here a couple of months ago and watched a proper busy kitchen with a proper chef cooking proper food. You get what you pay for. It's not cheap but that's because it's cooked fresh, rather than brought in pre-packed from Brake Brothers and cooked by some teenager who knows nothing about cooking and just heats things up.
Incidentally there were quite a few locals drinking in there when I was last in, having walked from nearby Yapton where there is another good pub with a great music quiz on a Sunday night.
I'm not in the habit of leaving reviews on this site but thought I would try to balance it out a bit by telling people about my experiences.
Yes beware of opening times, not open Sunday nights, but this is one of my favourite spots in Sussex.

Greyhound Inn, Lingfield

Not sure if new owners but noticed that no recent reviews. So thought I'd post one. I stay at the nearby campsite fairly often.

Had a very pleasant afternoon/evening here a few weeks ago. Friendly staff and regulars, reasonably priced beer in very pleasant nicely decorated surroundings. Nothing was too much trouble and liked the fact I could run a bar tab rather than wander round the village looking for a cashpoint, lots of places won't let you if they don't know you.

With that in mind we decided to return in the morning for Breakfast. And what a breakfast that was. I've not had better in top hotels or 5 star establishments. Two eggs, delicious local pork sausages, quality bacon, the full works for an amazingly good value price. You could just tell that you were eating top quality produce. Nothing was too much trouble, extra tea for no charge.

Go there, you won't be disappointed.

I'm not in the habit of leaving reviews, but have had very different experiences in the local pubs around this particular campsite and wanted to air my views to the world!

The Wiremill, Lingfield

Dreadful, dreadful food.
Had breakfast here last weekend. Probably worst ever. £7 for one sausage, two poor quality bacon, a spoon of cold beans, and a cold, completely solid yolked egg. Two cold toast.Wife had tiny portion of scrambled on toast that came with no butter. Absolute rubbish. The waitress said they did the fried eggs hard because "it's personal preference" - whatever that means. I asked to see the manager and he walked past about 5 times before I collared him, he had no intention of even speaking to us until I made him. His attitude was a total joke, he literally did not have a clue. Instead of apologising or offering some kind of refund he tried his best to come up with stupid excuses about the quality of the food, trying to tell me people like eggs hard etc. The chalkboard talks about the "Classic full English" as if it's some kind of culinary treat. Pot of tea £2 each - for £4 we had one of those silver pots between us.
So my recommendation is: do not eat there. My recommendation to the owners is: More training for the waitress and the hapless manager, he stands there like a rabbit in the headlights if you try to complain, teach him to offer some kind of apology and refund or compensation to the (many?) disgruntled customers and, I'm sorry, but find a new chef - if he can't cook a breakfast he can't cook anything.
