The Swan With Two Nicks, Little Bollington

Went for an early evening pub meal on Friday 26th June 2009. Myself and 5 others.
Place was reasonably busy, reasonably clean in bar/inside eating areas. Decided to sit outside and eat.
Had Bread and oil/balsamic starter. Bread was tasteless and 'pappy' 5/10
My partner had steak and ale pie.. her comment.. so-so.. pastry dry and tasteless, meat fine, gravy nice. Chips - appalling.. bland, tasteless and bone dry.
My Crayfish Penne pasta with spring onions was really bland. No pepper, wine, garlic or hint oftaste - just lots of cream. Pasta cooked ok, Crayfish ok. Had side order of chips, left them half eaten.
Value : Poor
Simply put.. I COULD HAVE DONE MUCH BETTER!
This place has been recommended to me.. i wont eat here again. Simple food at Cheshire prices,, some people must be easily pleased.
If you would like some genuine advice. Get the chef from the Hand Hotel in LLanarmon D.C to come and show your chef how to do the simple things well and you will see what i mean.
I am an ordinary bloke who appreciates decent food. I recognise when i'm being had.. Come on Guys.. Cheshire desrves a couple of decent gastro pubs. The Swan at Marbury is a more pleasing pub meal and at the same price.
Service was good, prompt and the bar staff were efficient.
