The Cricketers, Hartley Wintney

Dropped in for lunch midweek. We were late, but they were still serving at 1:40. The pub now has a French themed restaurant called "L' Auberge" with very efficient service.

Terrine, deep fried cheese parcels.
Roast chicken, steak.
Tart tatin.
Wine and calvados.

Great food quality, view out onto the cricket ground, efficient service and moderate price. Definitely one to remember for eating out.

The Jolly Farmer, Blacknest

This pub is quite a way out in the country. We dropped in for lunch, and drank London Pride and Shiraz by the glass, both very good. The beer was clear and seemed to have been cellared properly. This pub is operated by Fullers, so most of their products are available on hand pump.

The staff are friendly and helpful, the loos clean, and the decor appealing.

We ate scallops with a dipping sauce, rare steak and rabbit, apple pie and cheese. The cooking was superb, right up to London restaurant standards, the service efficient, and the price quite reasonable.

I get the impression that this pub has changed hands recently, or at least changed management, and that standards have improved as a result.

It's definitely worth a visit.
