Three Hats, Milton Regis

What a cracking friendly village pub this has turned out to be. All credit must go to both Malcolm and his wife for their efforts they have put into this place.

Over the last 8mths this has gone from a pub serving occasional guest beers outside either Young's or Sheps Master Brew to having regular rotating micros on. The introduction of a third hand pub 3 months ago is a real plus point.

To give an example of the range of beers that have been on, courtesy of the impressive Enterprise Inns stock have been Sharps Doom Bar and Eden Ale, Skinners Betty Stoggs, St Austell Tribute, 1648 brewery, Whitstable Native, Moorhouse Premier Bitter to name a few.

The beer is keep extremely well and the price is very reasonable at 2.70 a pint regardless of the brewery or strength. The food is of a good quality and standard and as with the ale is also excellent value for money - best bacon baguette this side of London (2.00). The pub also has regular themed nights and local live acts on either a Friday or Saturday. It also has a good stocked duke box and Sky Sports is always on in the background (with the sound turned down most of the time).

He has recently introduced the Locale initiative to the pub and also joined SIBA. The local CAMRA group is also now aware of the pubs presence and the range of beer available to him - subsequently holding their monthly group meeting in the pub.

Sittingbourne has very few real ale pubs so I can honestly say that the Three Hats stands out in the crowd and in my view is a worthy contestant for the 2010 good beer guide.

Well down Malcolm and keep up the good work.

The Cove, Covent Garden

I loved this place. Being a music lover and a real ale fan this was perfect. Never heard of the venue until my colleague introduced me last Friday for a beer there. We ended up staying a good 4 hours and 6 pints later!!! Cornish beer - great. Skinners and St Austall. The bar staff were plesent but needed a bit of training when pouring that perfect pint from a cask.

One for my future list!!!
