Went there for lunch on Saturday. Decent portions of reasonable food though hardly cutting edge. Dessert menu looks promising as does the wine list but didn't get a chance to sample either. I really like the makeover - exactly what was needed. Friendly staff too. I'll be visiting again.

The Stag's Head, Offchurch
Had lunch here today (Mother's Day 2010). 'Front of house' was excellent - welcoming, friendly, attentive but not intrusive. Sadly, we didn't feel as complementary about what came out of the kitchen. The complimentary bread and olives were lovely but it was all downhill from there. The vegetarian antipasti selection was truly bizzare comprising something which tasted like Coronation chicken but without the chicken and some pickled onions amongst other things. The dressing for the Caesar salad was also disappointing lacking a bit of depth. The lamb grill was overpowered by the sauce, served with a burnt rosti...and, you get the picture. I think basically, the chef is trying too hard to be interesting - and failing. It's a lovely pub though so do go; just remember to stick to steak and chips
