The Sorrel Horse, Shottisham

A delightful little village pub - unpretentious and welcoming with the incumbents genuinely (self) interested in providing good value food and drink for their customers. The beer (Woodfordes Wherry or Adnams Bitter on gravity) was heaven (the first drop to score 5/5 for me this year) and the Suffolk Ham on wholemeal was perfect.
I was just a walker en route but we all need to support such establishments as they are what a good village pub is all about.

The Crown, Hartest

Parked outside at 10 on a Saturday morning in keen anticipation of returning from our walk to enjoy a fine pub lunch with log fire, beams and good ale. Regretably, all we got was a motorway cafe with service and food to match. We should have realised when the car park was empty at prime time! No doubt thronged in the summer with less discerning folk prepared to wait for and eat such fayre but what a criminal waste of such a building in such a setting.

The White Horse Inn, Exning

My sort of pub - old and unpretentious, beamed, open fire, good ale and wholesome, reasonably priced food quick, friendly service. Try the beef sandwich on wholemeal. If I am anywhere near Exning at noon I'm in there!
