The Salisbury, Harringay

The Salisbury is one of my local boozers, and believe it or not was the deciding factor for buying our place just down the road! Three years later and we're still pretty happy with our choice.

My only gripe? A chunky mortgage means we've not managed to frequent this top draw pub as much as we've wanted to! Can't really comment about the staff; they are no better or worse than I've experienced anywhere else. But as the bar is big and pretty much wraps around the centre of the pub, I too have been waiting a while to get served on previous occasions. My tip is to go to the main part of the bar where the staff can see you better.

The beer is fine and there is a good enough choice of ales and E. European lagers. Haven't eaten here for a while so can't comment on the grub. However, the decor is fantastic and makes this place a real gem IMHO.

Note to management: one thing that may go well with the regulars and passing trade down here is a good old fashioned piano and pianist (for maybe one night per week?). The jukebox is fair enough, but it would be great to hear someone tinkling the ivories down there once in a while. Would be a definite USP in this day and age and may help bring back a little soul to this great pub and give it a bit of a talking point.
