The Bugle Horn, Aylesbury

For a gastro pub the architecture has not been too brutally mauled.Retains the charm of a country pub, some good selection of lagers but too few real ales. The food is excellent, reasonably priced and the seating alcoves are intimate with a mellow atmosphere. Service very good and staff always friendly. I have spent many a good evening here making one feel all is well with the world. The inviting charm of it's traditional exterior is matched by cosy country decor matched with a roaring fire and mulled wine in winter.

The Pack Horse, Mapledurham

formerly one of the most divine and traditional hostleries in southern england. Mellow atmosphere, comfortable surroundings, superb real ales, unspoilt rural architecture. So close to the town yet a million miles away in peace and charm. No nasty pipped music just some mellow blues. Good simple honest English food, friendly locals. Roaring log fire in winter.
I have heard it is now being turned into a gastro chain pub/restaurant. What an outrage, another piece of all that makes england worth living in destroyed.
