The Zetland Arms, South Kensington

Stumbled upon this pub with some friends on a Thursday evening, having just left the Science Museum. Left about 6 hours later, worse for wear, having had a great evening there. Lively atmosphere, and a nice mix of posh locals and tourists. And a good old-fashioned boozer that hasn't tried to turn itself into a restaurant like so many others.

The Friend at Hand, Bloomsbury

Cosy little pub tucked away down a side road behind Russell Square tube. Always seems to be busy, popular with local office workers and a few European language student from the local colleges. Very friendly bar staff, quick service, pub is kept immaculate, Sky Sports News silently on TV. Very nice place to meet for a drink.

The Kingfisher, Chertsey

The management here never have enough bar staff working on the bar at the weekend, so its not unusual to arrive here on a Saturday evening to find people crowding three-deep around the bar. Waiting times of 20 mins are normal, and the staff always forget "who is next" so if you are not assertive you will be ignored. Nice pub, great riverside location, very poor service.
