The Drewe Arms, Broadhembury

Landlord and landlady relatively new and go for it now, had a fantastic sunday lunch - choice of lamb or home cooked whole gammon - haven't seen that on a pub menu for years and was delicious. Huge selection of veg and good roasts too - local beer (yellowhammer) and absolutely packed with people. Only downside is parking dreadful in the pretty village, but will be going back to try a roast beef soon. Excellent all round.

The Merry Harriers, Clayhidon

Dull, listless and unmotivated barstaff, probably reacting to the actively rude landlord. Enquiry about local beers met with unjustified invective about how awful they all are (patently not true as a pint in any decent Devon pub would show). Unappealing position and design of place not helped by the worst service possible.

The Nog Inn, Feniton

Proper old fashioned village pub, chatty friendly landlord and 'local' without feeling like a closed shop. Locally made 'Yellowhammer' when I went, rotates beers and it was well kept.
